Father Michael Pfleger, pastor of Chicago's St. Sabina church.
CBS
We asked what you think about Rev. Michael Pfleger's comments on Hillary Clinton. Here are your responses:
Disgusting! Cardinal George should send him to the farthest mission he can find, and maybe he will learn some humility. --Elaine
I think Fr. Pfleger and his cohorts are guilty of stirring the pot of racism instead of bringing people together which is what they SAY is their goal. NOTHING should ever be about skin COLOR. Thanks to their hateful rhetoric, they have sent racism on a downward spiral toward the 1950's!!!! Shame on them!!!! --Phyllis Laba
I think this guy is an absolute NUT! And 'if' he is a Catholic priest-should be barred or kicked out on his ass from the church. --Leroy Heldman
Pfleger is a media ham, and I think he felt left out of the Obama/Wright news coverage. The guy shows up with eye and facial makeup to an event if he thinks a camera will show up. He's all about injecting himself into the forefront...wannabee celebrity. And secondly, why isn't eveyone screaming Racism? or is that card only used when a Clinton backer speaks up about what is really going on in this Democratic Pres. Race?
--Kris
I guess the truth is offensive to some people. --Michael
Any church would be happy to have this Pastor-Father as their shepherd, NOT. He is no different then any other racist. --Henry Martin
Fire that idiot. There is no place in the Bible where we are instructed to preach about candidates. The church leaders there are a disgrace to to all who love God. Teach the people about God, not about politics. --Dennis
It's hateful and shows deeper racism than I had thought there was from black people. I was hopeful we were getting past this, but there seems to be a lot of resentment and anger still. --Geary Marks
What happened to the separation of Church and State? This misguided turd needs to understand that politics have *zero* place in Church. If he wants to shoot off his mouth, he needs to take off the collar and speak as a private citizen. --Olden Atwoody
Not much! As a Catholic, I have to wonder where he studied his theology. It certainly does not correspond to the message of charity and Love taught in the church. I have never witnessed any other priest mocking others for their perceived shortcomings [pride] or their race. Did I detect a "drawl" in his delivery meant for his audience? --Tom Jordan
Separation of Church and State! If Churches and their leaders want to talk politics under their roof then we should start taxing them! Heck, we should tax them all anyway because there are too many so called "Churches" that exist merely to avoid paying taxes while the leaders live lavish lives. --Brian
Pfleger should have said, this is what I feel and believe about Hillary. No apology was needed. We all know by watching that he said what he wanted to convey on purpose and with the intent to help support Obama. There are no surprises here. --Ed in Florida
The first line that reads another pastor pushed into politics is inaccurate. Pfleger pushes himself into politics. He would be better served and a more credible preist if he stuck to the word of GOD in his sermons and not the fiery rhetoric of politics. Priest= Bible & word of GOD Politician= Constitution & desire of the constituents. --Tony
The men in the USA do not want a woman in this position. The priest, his church, Kennedy, Dodd, Kerry, Edwards, Richardson, Daschle, Springsteen, Hayden, Moore-- all feel this should be a man's job. They will do anything possible to destroy a woman's chances. --Mary Louise
They are true. Hillary is acting desperate, and not only feels shes entiled because of her skin color, but also this has been her dream her entire life. --Terry Adams
He was probably stupid to say it, but he's absolutely right. That's her attitude, and has been since the beginning. --Curt
I BELIEVE "BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER" --Tom King
He spoke the truth! As hard at it was. --Jose Cornier
Outrageous! I'm wondering where the Bishop of the diocese is in all this. He could easily silence this fool if he wanted to do so. But, doesn't Obama have some interesting friends?? --Marg Mullen
He speaks the truth, and those are exactly Clinton's views: some uppity black man is stealing my show. --Dayahka
The statements are true! The problem with America is all whites feel they are somehow special. --Pastor
Racist, hateful stuff from an alleged man of the cloth. --Steve Dunson
It's idiotic! He is totally out of order. What is he trying to prove...that he can act like a madman? --Joe Halcisak
I believe his comments were inflammatory and racist. He is pandering. --Cheryl
So, for twenty years Mr. Obama and family have been members of this hateful, racist church? And what kind of skeletons are in the closet of this Pfleger? Perhaps the same as Father Bernie Ward? Phleger clownishly acts like quit the self-ingratiating boot licker before this audience! --James X
I think his comments could be questionable, but because of his race, I think that he truly know what some (not all) Caucasians are really feeling about this whole "Black President" campaign --Alicia
Why is this priest allowed to preach in a non Catholic Church, He should be excommunicated with his riduculous actions. --Robert Smalley
Very troubling. It's upsetting as a Catholic and as an American. Why does he inflect black, too. This church is unquestionably evil. I use to support Obama but it is clear he is racist and anti-American now. Those are qualities I just don't want in my President. --David Bradley
Pfleger for UN secretary - bring it on Obama; Wright for VP, Farrakahn for Sect. of State...now were talking --Jojo
It's the truth!!! --William
He's an idiot, like all money-grubbing preachers, and he's anti-gun....we need MORE GUNS in Chicago, not less....or else get the National Guard back here to help with out "insurgent" gang problem.. --Tom
I am a 46 year old pastor and I work in the construction industry. I was leaning toward voting for Obama but this is the second time I have been offended by racist remarks from pastors that are representing Obama. I would not vote for any other person that is backed by any pastor who will use the pulpit to belittle any one. Even Hillary Clinton who I still do not plan to vote for. --Greg Hodge
I am a life long Catholic . For this priest to go into a church an preach hate, I am ashamed of my faith. Also to support a candidate thats platform belives in abortion just mystifies me. What has my religion come to?? How can he not be fired??? --Joe Winiarski
Pastors need to teach God's word and quit meddling in politics and social affairs. --Harry Osborn
It's true and correct. HillHips has already played the race card by suggesting a black cannot be elected; it is well known she feels entitled to the position, and Obama has stolen her show, and I am glad. He might be young and inexperienced, but she is EVIL. --Laney Daigle
Spot on. --"dablueshound"
That Obama thinks the same way, no way people with this much hatred for white people can cheer this man and others on and not expect obama doesn't know this church and it's beliefs, it's a black separatist church for black only that racist --Brenda
I think it is sad that so many people try to make this campaign a racial dispute. I feel we are on the verge of a racial war in America. We have came so far in life why do people want to push backwards. I am white and have marched in Selma AL with my black friends. I have mixed race in my family and I am ashamed of people making this racial. Let us pray!!! --"HILLFAN"
