6 Injured When Car Slams Into Building

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Six people, including a minor who was critically hurt, were hospitalized after a vehicle slammed into a Southeast Side building outside Eckersall Stadium Park Monday night.

About 8:50 p.m., a vehicle struck a building at 8258 S. Yates Ave., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.

The building the vehicle struck may have been a house, Police News Affairs Officer David Banks said early Tuesday.

Rosado said three people were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, and two people were taken in serious to critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

One minor was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, Rosado said.

The fire department called for an EMS Plan I, which sends five ambulances to the scene, according to Rosado, who said the Plan I was secured as of 9:30 p.m.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating, according to Banks.
