5 Injured In Crash Near River West
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
Five people were hurt early Saturday after a chain reaction crash involving six cars on the Ohio feeder ramp of the Kennedy Expressway (I-94) near the River West neighborhood.
The accident occurred shortly after midnight on the inbound Ohio Street feeder ramp exiting the expressway. Somehow, a chain reaction crash began and six vehicles were involved. Four of those vehicles were badly damaged, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Trooper Dominick Falcone.
An EMS Plan 1, which sends five ambulances to the scene, was called for the crash, Fire Media Affairs Cmdr. Will Knight said.
Three people were taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in serious to critical condition, Knight said. Two more people were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, also in serious to critical condition.
Falcone said the crash was not as serious as it was initially reported and no one suffered life-threatening injuries.
Troopers on the scene requested flatbed trucks to tow at least four vehicles from the scene, ISP District Chicago Trooper Bukaczyk said.
