Bond Set At $2M For Man Accused Of Shaking Child

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Bond was set at $2 million Wednesday for a Far South Side man accused of shaking his 3-month-old son so badly that the child had to be hospitalized.

Alexander Pearson, 21, of 107 W. 110th St., is charged with one count of aggravated battery to a child. His bond was set at $2 million Wednesday by Cook County Judge Donald Panarese Jr., according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokeswoman Tandra Simonton.

Pearson was charged Tuesday after the child was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County with injuries suffered from being shaken, police News Affairs officer Daniel O'Brien said.

A preliminary hearing for Pearson is scheduled for Aug. 26 at Far South Felony Court (Br. 38), 727 E. 111th St., Simonton said.
