Person Struck, Killed By Blue Line Train
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
CTA trains on the Forest Park branch of the Blue Line have resumed normal operations after a person was struck and killed by a train Monday morning.
About 8:45 a.m., an outbound train "made contact with a person" at the Western stop, according to CTA spokeswoman Katelyn Thrall.
Police said that person was dead and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office has been notified of the death, according to a spokesman. Police are conducting a death investigation but had no details as of about 11:30 a.m.
Trains were bypassing the Western station and shuttle bus service was being provided to riders while police conducted their investigation, but by 11:50 a.m. trains in both directions were once again stopping at the station, Thrall said.
