R. Kelly Videotape Will Be Shown In Court
Attorneys Said It Was Too Obscene
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
The media and the public will be allowed to see a videotape that allegedly shows R. Kelly having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Both the singer's attorneys and prosecutors had argued the tape is so obscene that it would embarrass the child.
They asked to have the viewing of the video limited to only jurors, attorneys and the judge himself.
But Criminal Court Judge Vincent Gaughan disagreed. He said the tape was the "whole crux and linchpin" of the case.
Kelly, whose full name is Robert S. Kelly, has pleaded not guilty to a 14-count indictment.
