Attorneys: Public Should Not See R. Kelly Tape

Grammy-Award Winner Accused Of Sex With Minor

CHICAGO (AP) ― Prosecutors and defense attorneys in R. Kelly's upcoming trial are asking a judge to bar the public from viewing a videotape that's at the heart of the child pornography charges against him.

The video allegedly shows the Grammy-award winning singer having sex with an underage girl.

Both sides have asked Judge Vincent Gaughan to limit the viewing of the video to only jurors, attorneys and the judge himself. They say the video is so lewd it would embarrass the girl involved.

The judge didn't rule on the requests yesterday, but he set a June 8 court date in the case.

Kelly has pleaded not-guilty to a 14-count indictment.
