Navy Reservist From Freeport Dies In Kuwait Crash
FREEPORT, Ill. (AP) ―
A Navy Reservist from Freeport in northwestern Illinois has died in a noncombat vehicle crash in Kuwait.
Navy Reserve officials say 37-year-old Petty Officer 2nd Class Brian Patton died in a collision Thursday in Northern Kuwait.
Lt. Cmdr. Doug Gabos says Patton was working as a military police officer supporting the war in Iraq.
Gabos says another sailor in Patton's vehicle was injured, as well as a civilian contractor in the other vehicle involved. Their conditions were not immediately available.
Pennsylvania corrections officials say Patton had worked as a corrections officer at a state prison there for the last four years.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
