SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (CBS) ―
Visitation will be held Monday for Thomas Cook, the Metra police officer who was slain last week.
The visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Drumm Funeral Home, 1200 E. 162nd St. in South Holland. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 700 E. 170th St. in South Holland, followed by burial at Oakland Memory Lanes Cemetery, 15200 Lincoln Av. in Dolton.
Cook, 43, was shot in the head on patrol at the station in Harvey.
"He was a fine officer, wonderful spirit and it's a tragic loss to the whole Metra family," Metra police chief James Sanford said.
Cook was a Metra police officer for three years, after serving with the Riverdale Police Department for a decade before that. He was the first Metra police officer to be shot and killed in the line of duty.
