Woman Charged With Stealing From Former Bear

CHICAGO (AP) ― A housekeeper for former Chicago Bears defensive back Jerry Azumah is accused of stealing more than $250,000 from the player.

Wanda Zielinski of Chicago, who has been charged with forgery and theft by deception, was ordered held in lieu of $200,000 dollars.

Zielinski allegedly forged and deposited 19 stolen checks into her personal bank account.

Prosecutors say there's a chance Azumah may be able to recover some of the stolen funds.

Azumah, a Pro Bowl kick returner in 2003, was picked up in the fifth-round of the 1999 draft. He spent his entire seven-year career with the Bears. Azumah cited neck and hip pain as reasons he retired this year.
