The NBA players union is warning players in the Chicago area to be on alert after two home invasions in just a couple weeks.
CBS 2's Mike Parker caught up with Chicago Bulls star guard Ben Gordon who was coaching kids and signing autographs for them at the Bulls/Sox academy in west suburban Lisle Monday.
"You can't live your life running around being paranoid, but you have to be more cautious about the people you have around you," Gordon said.
Over the weekend, three armed men stormed into the $6 million Burr Ridge home of former Bull, now New York Knick Eddy Curry. They duct taped Curry, his family and driver, and made off with $10,000 in cash and some jewelry.
Three weeks ago, home invaders took cash and jewelry from the River North home of Miami Heat star Antoine Walker.
"I know everybody's aware of it, and you know, so far there's been two NBA players so the guys are definitely wary and they realize they can possibly be a target," Gordon said.
Curry and his family appear to have left their home, at least for now, and that's understandable.
"I'm sure they're pretty traumatized, especially the children. I'm sure it'll take them a while to recover from the shock of this," Burr Ridge Police Cpl. Tim Vaclav said.
"He's doing all right. I asked him if he's okay, said he was and obviously authorities are handling the rest. Like I said before, the main thing is that nobody got hurt," Gordon said.
Burr Ridge and Chicago police are not ready to say the same gunmen were involved, but they seem to feel there's a strong possibility.
Gordon's comment about being careful about the people you have around you, suggests players may be concerned about NBA groupies and hangers-on, some may think these robberies were inside jobs.
