Governor Says He Doesn't Remember Rezko's List
Reports Say Rezko Made List Of People He Wanted On State Boards
CHICAGO (AP) ―
Gov.
Rod Blagojevich says he doesn't remember getting a list of people that a now-indicted friend and fundraiser wanted to be appointed to state boards.
Blagojevich does not deny getting the list. He said Tuesday that it is no secret that
Antoin "Tony" Rezko recommended people to serve in his administration.
The Democratic governor wouldn't comment on what he discussed with Rezko when the two met around the time the list was written.
The list contains 19 names.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that 15 of them can be linked to $830,000 in campaign contributions to Blagojevich. Ten of them, or their spouses, ended up with state appointments.
Federal prosecutors say Rezko tried to engineer appointments to some state boards so that he would have influence over their decisions. Then he would demand money from firms that wanted to do business with the boards.
