Murdered Mobster's Wife Testifies At Trial

Ann Spilotro Says Husband Michael And His Brother Tony Were Scared Before They Disappeared

CHICAGO (AP) ― The wife of murdered mobster Michael Spilotro says her husband knew he was in trouble in the weeks leading up to his murder in June 1986.

Ann Spilotro testified in the Family Secrets mob trial Thursday that Michael and his brother Anthony were scared before they disappeared.

The government's star witness earlier told the court that the mob, called the Outfit, convinced the brothers they would be promoted within the organization.

The two were instead lured into a Bensenville basement and allegedly killed for jeopardizing the mob's Las Vegas arm.

Ann Spilotro's testimony was part of the ongoing trial in Chicago federal court of five men accused in a conspiracy involving 18 unsolved murders. The Spilotro murders are among the 18.
