Bears Fans Back From Miami, Bloodied But Unbowed

Fans Gripe About Seats, Weather, But Stay Solidly In Bears' Corner

CHICAGO (CBS) ― The Chicago Bears are set to arrive in Chicago Monday night from that heartbreaker Sunday night in Miami.

Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts crushed the Bears' hopes for a Super Bowl title.

The Bears put out a statement that said: "The team wanted to thank all Bears fans for their tremendous support throughout the season. They look forward to celebrating with the fans when the championship returns to Chicago."

CBS 2's Mike Parker caught up with some of the fans back from Miami offering mixed emotions.

Bears fans who saw the Super Bowl, not on HD TV but at Dolphin Stadium, came back to the cold reality of O'Hare Monday.

And lucky as they were to hold those magic tickets, there were - surprisingly - some complaints.

"Our seats weren't even together, 'cause I went with my fiancé. We were in the same section but we were rows apart," said Kimberly Ross.

Even Congressman Bobby Rush, who flew in from Florida to change planes to go on to Washington, groused a little.

"It was wet and we got soaked," Rush said.

Another returning Bears fan agreed with his complaint.

"It was the third wettest time I've ever been in my life," said Al Stacy. "I would say the second one was the playoff game in San Francisco in '95 and when I took a shower this morning."

Minor complaints aside, returning Bears fans are, like the team, a little bloodied but unbowed. And they're still behind Grossman.

"Realistically it's his first full season as a starting quarterback. It took Peyton manning nine years," said Juan Diaz, who returned from Florida Monday.

"You never know what Rex is going to show up, the bad Rex, the good Rex. But I think rex is going to be all right," Stacy added.

Rush had some words of encouragement: "We've got another chance. You know, in Chicago, we don't ever die."

Rush, who did not grouse about his seat, also praised the Colts. They were, he said, a poised team, well coached.

In his words, you have to give it to Indianapolis.

In the end, of course, that was the problem. The Bears did just that.
