After a first quarter of big plays on both sides, the game begins to settle into a rhythm. But there's a bit of a problem: The rain is starting to fall even harder. Is this Bears weather, Miami style?
The Colts start the second quarter just inside Bears territory. Indy quickly moves the ball to the Bears 25-yard line. Joseph Addai bulls his way to another first down at the Bears 16- yard line. Bears defense stiffens in the red zone, forcing the Colts to settle for an Adam Vinatieri field goal. Bears, 14, Colts 9.
Benson has injured his left knee and is questionable for the rest of the game.
The Bears take over around the 22-yard line, but can't move the ball and are forced to punt. Maynard hits a 42-yard line driver, and the Colts take over at their own 40-yard line.
The rain continues to fall steadily, but Manning completes a big pass to Marvin Harrison, moving the ball to the Bears 30-yard line. Harrison has 4 catches for 48 yards so far. Despite the slick conditions, Manning rolls to his right and completes another big pass to Dallas Clark. Colts are again in the red zone.
Then it's time for the Colts to practice smash-mouth football, taking a page from the Bears playbook. Running back Dominic Rhodes sprints right up the middle to the Bears 1-yard line. Rhodes takes the next handoff and blasts into the end zone, giving the Colts the lead for the first time with just over six minutes left in the half. Colts 16, Bears 14.
Indy continues to keep the ball away from Hester as Vinatieri squibs another kickoff, and the Bears take over on their own 37-yard line.
Bears are stuffed after three plays and are forced to punt. To make matters worse, fans learn the Benson is out for the rest of the game.
Maynard's punt is returned to the Colts 35-yard line.
Colts slog their way past midfield at the two-minute warning. It's third down and short, and Joseph Addai slides his way to a first down. Colts then go to a no huddle offense.
The Bears' Charles "Peanut'' Tillman forces a big-time fumble after a reception by Bryan Fletcher.
Oh, Bad Rex is back. Grossman botches the snap on the next play, giving the ball right back to Indy on the Bears 35-yard line with 1:18 left. Rhodes easily runs for a first down and continue in their no huddle offense. Brian Urlacher comes up with a huge stop on Addai, forcing the Colts to kick a field goal. Vinatieri misses what is normally an automatic field goal to close out the half. Colts 16 , Bears 14
