Celebrated Hitting Coach Rudy Jaramillo Joins Cubs
Jaramillo Spent 15 Successful Years With Texas Rangers

The Cubs on announced Wednesday that celebrated, record-setting hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo is joining the team.
Jaramillo has been named the Major League hitting coach for the Cubs. Previously, he served 16 seasons with the Texas Rangers, and oversaw an offense that netted 17 Silver Slugger awards, three home rn champions, three RBI titles, and one batting champion, the Cubs said. His hitters have also won four of the last 15 MVP awards.
Jaramillo also guided the Texas Rangers to 13 consecutive seasons in which the team scored more than 800 runs, the best record since the New York Yankees between 1926 and 1942. Further, Jaramillo established a major league record with 376 doubles in 2008, and 260 home runs in2005, which was the second highest season home run total ever.
Jaramillo also served four seasons as with the Houston Astros, from 1990 thr0ugh 1993. Before that, he was a minor-league manager In the Texas chain.
"Rudy Jaramillo is widely regarded as the premiere hitting instructor in the game," Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry said in a news release. "The addition of Rudy to our franchise is a strong statement from our new owners, the Ricketts family, and we thank them for allowing us to move quickly to fill this important role with the best in the business."
