When a Chicago sports team is in the running for a trophy, a lot of musicians come up with tributes to sing their praises.
Chicagoans John Steele and Joe Cantafio make their living by making commercials, but the two musicians are now making music to cheer on their beloved Bears.
CBS 2's Katie McCall reports the local duo is creating a lot of buzz and getting some serious airplay.
They have a new song and a new CD and it all started with a rant by Arizona Cardinals coach Denny Green.
"Denny Green came out and said 'the Bears are who we thought they were,' I said that's right we are who ya thought we were and I said whoa, we are who ya thought we were, and I started singing," Steele, a music producer and songwriter said.
With that, the song "We Are Who Ya Thought We Were" was born.
The duo has released the song as part of a Bears fight song collection, including Bill Archer's "Bear Down Chicago Bears."
Of course they are most attached to their own song.
"It's kind of a double meaning. To me it's a fan song -- we the fans are who you the Bears thought we were we believe in you still," Steele said.
They wrote the lyrics in a day, produced the CD in three weeks and say they've sold 22,000 copies so far.
"We're finding out there's Bears fans everywhere," Cantafio, also a music producer and songwriter, said. "We're getting cute emails from them, um Florida, Texas, Arizona."
Stores are now selling the CDs for $9.99 each and if the Bears do go all the way, well, the producers may have found their lotto ticket.
