Lovie Smith: Bears 'Have A Lot Of Fight Left'
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) ―
After a three-day weekend to ponder their problems, the Bears were back at work Monday trying to regroup. Lovie Smith had a message for his team before practice.
Defensive tackle Tommie Harris said Smith told the team to "'Just continue to play hard, stay focused, keep believing in this team, in this defense' and we do. We owe it to him and that guy has been great to us."
Smith said, "Yes I'm disappointed were 4 and 5. I didn't picture us here, but that is how it goes. Were in a tough battle but we a have a lot of fight left. "
So, after losing four of their last five games, what makes them confident that they can really turn this around?
"It's because of the way we lose games. It's not like teams are dominating us. We lost last week by four points and we had three or four trips to the red zone; so if we converted half of those we could have won. We still have hope," said wide receiver Devin Hester.
"Nothing is running away from us. The Vikings are 8 and 1, but if we play well, the playoffs are still in our grasp," said defensive end Adewale Ogunleye.
This is when you find out what a team is really made of. The Bears insist they are still motivated and won't self destruct. They can't afford to since they pretty much need to win out to see the playoffs.
