Rock On For Chicago Barista Trying To Lead INXS
Call Her The Comeback Kid
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
A Chicago singer gets the opportunity of a life time, but every week she's had to struggle to survive. Jessica Robinson has a shot at stardom and a chance to become the lead singer for the band INXS, but life for the wanna-be rocker has been rocky.
Her family, friends, and even Robinson herself, say don't count her out yet.
Call her the comeback kid.
"It's a really nerve wracking thing," Robinson said.
She finished in the bottom three after the first few performances.
"You're, like, I suck. How did I even make it here?" she said.
But Chicago's Robinson says the slump is over after viewers voted to keep her in the competition last week.
"My struggles in the beginning had to do with nerves," she said. "This is a level that I've never experienced before. When I'm at home performing, I'm totally comfortable, I'm with my guys," Robinson said.

"We used to say somebody's going to come along and see her sing, and they're going to scoop her up," said Ninos George with Cover Gurl.
It was at a show in Joliet two years ago where she caught the eye of different kind of admirer, her now fiancé, Brandon Webb.
They are only allowed three phone calls a week. He's seen the show live and admits it been tough.
"At one point after one of the shows she snuck a hug to me and told me she was ready to come home, which really shocked me," Webb said.
But she has his full support whether she's a rock star or at her less glamorous job at Starbucks.
"She's been writing me letters and stuff, saying, like, I have to reapply to Starbucks again because she's out of the system. I write her back, I don't think you really have to worry about that," Webb said.
The Cover Gurl's hope that even if Robinson doesn't win, some of her good fortune and national exposure will rub off on the band.
