Chicago native Bernie Mac, the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor and comedian who worked his way to Hollywood success from an impoverished upbringing on the South Side, died Saturday. August 9th. His publicist says Mac died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital of complications due to pneumonia.
