Divorce For Wife Of Star Witness In Rezko Trial
Stuart Levine's Wife Was Granted Divorce From Immediately After Filing
CHICAGO (AP) ―
The wife of a star witness in the successful prosecution of political fundraiser Tony Rezko has been granted a divorce.
Sheri Levine was granted a divorce from Stuart Levine Tuesday in Cook County Circuit Court. She filed for the divorce on June 13th.
Sheri Levine's attorney, Linda Kagan, confirmed the filing but declined to comment further.
Stuart Levine testified in Rezko's federal fraud trial about how the two plotted to squeeze payoffs out of money management firms seeking to invest assets of the $40 billion state Teachers Retirement System.
Levine pleaded guilty to the charges and became a government witness in hopes of getting a relatively lenient sentence.
Rezko is awaiting sentencing.
He was a prominent fundraiser for Gov. Rod Blagojevich and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama.
