Investigators: Politics Stymied Fraud Probe
CHICAGO (AP) ―
Investigators say a Medicaid fraud probe into a major fundraiser for Gov. Rod Blagojevich was stymied by political interference.
During the course of their three-year probe, investigators say a proposed audit was scaled back and a subpoena was stalled.
Tuesday's Chicago Tribune also reports that the investigators' strategies were likely passed on to the target of the probe.
The investigation ended last year with no charges or sanctions imposed on Harish M. Bhatt, the pharmacist targeted by the investigation.
