The Obama campaign confirmed Tuesday that it will spend election night in Chicago's Grant Park. But members of the press will have to pay if they want to cover the event.
In a memo sent to the news outlets and posted on my.barack.obama.com, the campaign offers various options for position and phone and internet connections at a cost.
The priciest option, a man riser position with phone lines and a high speed internet connection, is going for $1,870. Various locations and telecommunications hookups are offered in packages, or as "a la carte" services like a single 20-amp circuit for $165. The cheapest credentials will cost $715.
Parking for a television satellite truck will cost around $900.
The campaign is offering a general media area for free, but it is outdoors and may have "obstructed views," according to the campaign.
