AG Madigan Says She Won't Replace Obama In Senate

Madigan's Father Is Longtime Political Nemesis Of Gov. Blagojevich

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Speculation continues about who will replace President-elect Obama in the U.S. Senate. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, mentioned by some as a possible candidate, sizes up her chances as slim to none.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich will appoint the successor to the senate seat, and Madigan's father, Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, is the governor's political nemesis.

"I think that because of the interesting political situation here in the state of Illinois it is a chance of less than zero that the governor will be calling me to offer that seat to me," Madigan said.

The attorney general says she likes her job, and down the road is considering a run for governor.
