Oberweis Hopes To Replace Hastert in Congress

CHICAGO (CBS) ― The milkman cometh again.

Jim Oberweis the milk and ice cream titan is gearing up to replace Denny Hastert in Congress.

Oberweis filed the necessary papers Thursday.

Hastert backed Oberweis for U.S. Senate five years ago. The former House Speaker plans to retire at the end of his current congressional term next November.

An Oberweis spokesman says if Hastert retires then an Oberweis run is on.

Oberweis has yet to win office. He couldn't be reached for comment because he was on his honeymoon. He was remarried on July 4.
