Former Peoples Energy Exec Going To White House

Desiree Rogers To Be Named White House Social Secretary

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Former Peoples Energy president Desiree Rogers will oversee social planning at the White House after Barack Obama takes office.

The president-elect and his wife, Michelle Obama, say Rogers will be White House social secretary.

Rogers is now president of social networking at Allstate Financial, and she previously worked as utilities president of Chicago-based natural gas company Peoples Energy and as director of the Illinois Lottery.

Previously, Rogers was the first African-American female president of Peoples Energy.

Melissa Winter was Mrs. Obama's traveling chief of staff during the campaign. She will join the White House team as deputy chief of staff to the first lady.
