Vote On Bailout Plan Split Among Illinois Reps

Among Illinois U.S. House members, the vote on the $700 billion rescue plan was largely split along party lines, with some notable exceptions.
Democrats Melissa Bean, Bill Foster and Luis Gutierrez supported the bill, as did Danny Davis, Rahm Emanuel and Jan Schakowsky. Republicans Ray LaHood and Mark Kirk also voted yes.
But Democrats Jesse Jackson Jr., Dan Lipinski and Bobby Rush all voted against the measure, as did Republicans Judy Biggert and Peter Roskam.
For his part, Jackson said he believed the rescue plan did not provide any aid to homeowners, and that any bailout plan should include a moratorium on foreclosures to ensure that people do not lose equity on their homes.
"Democrats and Republicans must come back to Washington after the holiday, and work on a plan that starts at the bottom up, not the top down," Jackson said.
