Stroger Files For Reelection In Cook County Board

CHICAGO (AP) ― Todd Stroger will seek re-election in the race for Cook County board president.

He filed a petition on Monday afternoon, joining a crowded Democratic primary.

Other candidates in the race include Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown, Chicago Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Water Reclamation District President Terry O'Brien and Congressman Danny Davis.

Davis has also filed for re-election in his 7th district congressional seat. He says he isn't sure which race he'll pursue and has until next Monday to make a decision.

Stroger took over from his father in 2006.

When John Stroger retired after suffering a stroke, he asked that his son Todd, then an alderman, replace him on the ballot. Democratic leaders granted the request.
