IOC: One More Chance To Explain 2016 Olympic Bid
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Chicago's getting another shot to prove it's the best city to host the 2016 Olympic Games.
Saturday, the International Olympic Committee made a surprise decision to allow the seven finalists to make one final pitch before the decision is made in late 2009.
The cities will be given the chance to better explain their bid at a special meeting in Switzerland next spring.
The seven cities still in the running are Chicago, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, Madrid, Doha, Prague and Baku, Azerbaijan.
The IOC board will reduce the field to an undetermined number of finalists in June.
