Robber Nabbed For Snatching 89-Year-Old's Purse
GARY, Ind. (Post-Tribune) ―
A security guard at Fagen Pharmacy inside the downtown Chase bank building apprehended a suspected robber moments after he allegedly grabbed the purse of an 89-year-old Chicago woman, Cpl. Gabrielle King said.
Tyrone McKee, 46, who was released from prison in 2001 after admitting to at least 21 robberies, told police his friends goaded him into taking the purse from the woman as she sat in her car in the 500 block of Broadway on Wednesday afternoon.
When police arrived, they saw McKee pinned to the floor of the drug store by the guard.
The victim told police she went to her car after leaving the pharmacy and a man approached and asked her for 50 cents. She began to answer when he grabbed her purse and ran.
