Man Walks In, Tells Cops He's A Child Molester
VALPARAISO, Ind. (Post-Tribune) ―
An Indiana man walked into a sheriff's office Thursday and admitted to molesting three young girls, police said.
At 8 a.m., Michael Parris, of 105 4th St., in Evansville, Ind., walked into the Porter County Sheriff's Department and confessed to molesting three young females.
According to the police report, Parris, 56, initially said he had sex with one female and fondled two others.
When police interviewed two of the victims, however, they learned he had sex with at least two others. The victims are now adults.
The molestations reportedly began in 1985 when Parris was about 33. Lt. Chris Eckert, the Sheriff Department's public information officer, was not able to release much information about the crimes but said he believed the abuse was ongoing.
Parris confessed at the prompting of family members, Eckert said. Parris is being held without bond at the Porter County Jail on one Class C felony charge of child molestation.
As of Monday, a court date had not yet been set.
If convicted of the single charge, he could be sentenced up to eight years in jail and fined $10,000.
