Elderly Woman Hurt By Float In Niles Parade

Victim Hospitalized, But Extent Of Injuries Unknown

NILES, Ill. (CBS) ― An elderly woman was injured and hospitalized Friday after an accident involving a float in the Independence Day Parade in north suburban Niles.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. The extent of the woman's injuries, and how exactly she was injured by the float, were not immediately learned.

The Niles parade proceeded from Notre Dame High School, 7655 W. Dempster St., to Grennan Heights Park, 8255 N. Oketo Ave., via Ozark Avenue, Main Street, Harlem Avenue, and Monroe Street.

It was not immediately learned if and how the parade was held up as a result of the accident.

Niles police said they did not have a full report available as of midday Friday.
