Man Charged With Attacking Little League Coach

Scott Knudsvig Allegedly Punched Coach In Antioch

ANTIOCH, Ill. (CBS) ― A man has been arrested and charged for punching a Little League baseball coach in north suburban Antioch over a comment made after a game.

Scott Knudsvig, 42, of Bristol, Wis., was charged with battery and criminal damage to property. Police say he punched and shoved the coach of his son's opposing team. Officials say the coach's glasses were broken and he suffered swelling and abrasions.

The fight broke out around 1 p.m. Sunday, while a team of 13- and 14-year-old players from Antioch were lining up to shake hands after a game against Grant Township. They were playing at the Antioch Upper Middle School, 800 Highview Dr. in the suburb, according to Antioch police Cmdr. Jim Ruth.

After the game, a parent whose son played for Antioch approached the coach of the Grant Township team and accused him of making an "inappropriate" comment to his son, Ruth said. Then Knudsvig allegedly attacked.

Knudsvig said he was then assaulted by about 10 other parents who tackled him. He says he has marks "all over" his chest.

Police say only one other parent intervened.
