Man Run Over, Shot In Gurnee Road Rage Incident

Shooter Still On The Loose Tuesday Morning

GURNEE, Ill. (CBS) ― One person was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a road rage incident led to gunfire near Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

The incident began about 9:55 p.m., when two drivers headed west on Grand Avenue got into a fight.

One of the motorists – who was driving a white BMW sedan – caused the other to get a flat tire, and the driver of that vehicle traveled onto the ramp from Grand Avenue to northbound I-94 to change the tire, according to Illinois State Police.

When the man was outside working on the tire, the BMW rolled by and struck him, knocking him to the ground. The BMW then stopped and someone got out and shot the victim twice in the chest before the BMW driver fled northbound on I-94, the sergeant said.

The BMW had three occupants and all of them remained on the run as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The victim remained hospitalized.

A state police sergeant did not immediately know what sparked the road rage incident but said State Police are investigating.
