Armed Home Invaders Strike Barrington Hills Home

Occupants Bound And Gagged, Several Items Stolen

BARRINGTON HILLS, Ill. (CBS) ― Armed home invaders struck a house in the affluent northwest suburb of Barrington Hills early this morning, police said.

Barrington Hills police responded at 2:24 a.m. to a house near Bateman and Lake Cook roads after a panic alarm sounded, and met with the occupants, who said they were robbed at gunpoint by three or more invaders.

The occupants said they were bound and gagged and their home was ransacked, according to police. Cash, jewelry and electronic equipment were stolen from the house, police said. No one was injured.

The invaders got in through an open window in the basement, police said.

Barrington Hills police are still investigating, and want anyone with information to call (847) 551-3006. They also remind residents to lock all doors and windows at night or when away from home, and use an alarm system if possible.

Barrington Hills is a well-to-do suburb known for its equestrian activities.
