Memphis' Calipari Extends Contract For $2.35 Mil

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) ― Memphis coach John Calipari has signed a $2.35 million contract extension through the 2012-13 season.

Director of Athletics R.C. Johnson released Saturday the details of the agreement that was announced earlier this month. The contract reflects a $500,000 increase over last year's salary and if he remains through the 2012-2013 season, he'll get a $5 million bonus.

Calipari took the Tigers to the national championship game this year, the program's first Final Four since 1985 and their first title game since 1973. Memphis lost 75-68 in overtime to Kansas.

Memphis won an NCAA Division I record of 38 games and were ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in national polls for a school-record 16 straight weeks.
