New Wii Game Leaving Some Parents With Hangovers

(CBS) Nintendo Wii allows 'gamers' to be interactive, and part of the appeal is that players get to physically act-out the games. They can throw a strike in bowling or hit an ace in tennis.

But a new Wii game is leaving some parents with a bit of a hangover. Pong Toss is the first of a series of frat party games released by JV Games Incorporated. Some say it is based on a drinking game born on college campuses in the early 80s.

The real Pong Toss works this way: Cups are filled with a beverage, in some cases beer. The cups are then placed on opposite sides of a ping pong table, and teams then take turns trying to bounce ping pong balls into the cups. If your ball lands in a cup, the other team has to drink it.

Because the game is rated "E" for everyone, it is brewing debate. Some parents feel it sends a bad message and encourages underage drinking.

"I would certainly not let my 14-year-old daughter play that, nor my 17-year-old son," said Diane Stelmach.

However, others feel that Pong Toss can't be any worse than what is already available.

"It is just a video game and just like any other video game, maybe with violence or whatever, it's not the real thing and so it's up to the parents to explain that you're not supposed to do it in real life," said Wii player Matt Tomkins.
