Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., held a town hall meeting on health care in Arizona Tuesday and received a slew of questions from worried seniors. The senator also received a few boos when he came to President Barack Obama's defense.
Hundreds of seniors packed the Grace Bible Church in Sun City. Several angry would-be attendants were turned away at the front door, reports the Associated Press.
One audience member asked the former Presidential contender if President Obama didn't realize that some of the changes he's calling for goes against the Constitution.
Sen. McCain responded that he's sure the president respects the Constitution. Some town hall attendees booed the senator's response. McCain added tried to hush the boos, reminding the room that the president of the United States is owed respect.
The Arizona Republican criticized President Obama's plan to create a government-run health care option to compete with private insurers and says he's "very concerned" about it.
Obama and most Democrats say the choice of a public plan would serve to balance the power of private insurers. But insurance companies see it as a step toward a government takeover, and many business groups agree.
