The mother of slain University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard plans to launch a new campaign this weekend intended to erase hate.
Judy Shepard of Casper plans to launch the Campaign to Erase Hate at the Matthew Shepard Foundation's Annual Gala in Denver on Saturday. Organizers say the event is sold out.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Matthew Shepard's murder in an anti-gay attack. The two young men who killed him are serving life sentences in Wyoming prison.
Judy Shepard says that her campaign wants to put faces on the impact of hate. She says that by getting people to engage their friends on the issue, she wants the program to change the hearts and minds of 1 million people.
