WISH-TV Cameraman, Freelance Photographer Wounded; 'Person Of Interest' Arrested

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ― Indianapolis police have arrested a man described as a person of interest in the shootings of a TV news cameraman and a freelance photographer as they were covering a fire at a vacant house Friday morning.

Police Chief Michael Spears says the man had spoken to the photographers before the shooting.

Police say both were treated and released from Methodist Hospital.

The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. as firefighters were battling the fire on the city's near east side.

A freelance photographer working for the Indianapolis Fire Department was shot in the arm.

Police say bullet also apparently struck an air tank worn by a firefighter. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
