Friend Tells Of Harrowing Encounter With Markoff

Woman Says Markoff Turned On Her Instantly

 CBS News Interactive: Crime Beat

By KATHRYN BROWN, CBS 2 HD News
NEW YORK (CBS) ― CBS station WCBS-TV has learned new details of the alleged secret life of the man police said is the Craigslist killer.

A woman Markoff attended college with told the New York Daily News that Markoff tried kissing her and became violent when she resisted.

"He pushed me up against the wall and tried kissing me and I pushed him away," Morgan Houston told the paper. "I was trying futilely to push him away and say, 'No Phil! Get off me! Stop kissing me!' I couldn't physically get him off of me."

Houston chalked the incident up to a night of drinking, but said she got chills when she learned of Markoff's recent arrest for attacking -- and murdering – Julissa Brisman.

Investigators say Markoff had a gambling habit and robbed women he met online because he needed money to pay his debts. Markoff lists gambling as a hobby in his high school yearbook.

Family and friends remembered Brisman at a wake on Wednesday. They are angry and say they want Markoff to pay.

"He's not gonna give her her life back but at least he's in jail now and he's gonna get what he deserves," said Jenny Guzman, the victim's cousin.
