Olympic superstar Michael Phelps has another run-in with the law after being involved in a multiple vehicle accident.
Baltimore City Police are investigating the collision. Phelps was driving his black Cadallac Escalade through the Mt. Vernon area around 9 p.m. Thursday night.
Police say he was traveling eastbound when he collided with a car traveling north; the impact forced both cars to strike a parked vehicle in the area.
"At this we don't know, we know that there was a collision. Two cars were driving, they collided at an intersection. We're going to find out, you know, if alcohol was a factor, we're going to look at red lights. We're going to put all that together and like I said AIU (Accident Investigation Unit) is literally is talking to them as we speak," a police spokesman said.
The airbag of Phelps' SUV did inflate and his hood suffered extensive damage.
Police say the female driver of the Honda was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
CBS station WJZ-TV has exclusive video of Phelps sitting in an ambulance giving an official statement to police, but again the Olympic swimmer did not suffer any injuries.
Friday morning police are trying to determine exactly what caused the collision and who was at fault.
They say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
There were two other passengers traveling with Phelps. They were not injured.
Phelps has had brushes with the law in the past. USA swimming suspended him earlier this year after a British tabloid published a photo of him using a marijuana pipe.
In 2004, he pleaded guilty to driving while impaired.
