The Constant Gardener
Richard Roeper: "See It"
(CBS)
You know school is back in session and we're at the end of the summer movie season with "The Constant Gardener," a grown-up love story set against the world of global politics.
"The Constant Gardener" is that rare film designed to attract the over-35 crowd. In a quietly powerful performance, Ralph Fiennes plays a British diplomat in Kenya, investigating the murder of his activist wife, played in flashbacks by Rachel Weisz.
The evil empire in this story is an international drug company using Kenyans as guineau pigs for an experimental new product. With each new level of corruption he uncovers, Fiennes grows increasingly furious and passionate about finding his wife's true killers.
Rated R for nudity and violence, "The Constant Gardener" is a first-rate political thriller with excellent performances and stunning African locales. See It.
