Into the Blue
Richard Roeper: "Skip It!"
CHICAGO (CBS) ―
Jessica Alba looks great in a bikini and that seems to be the primary reason for making "Into the Blue." It certainly wasn't her acting, or the plot.
In what may be a record for an actress being shot from behind, Jessica Alba is facing away from the camera nearly as much as we see her face in this dopey underwater adventure. Co-starring with Ms. Alba's buttocks: Paul Walker's pecs.
Walker is Jared and Alba plays Sam. They're a beautiful young couple who spend nearly every waking moment diving in the turquoise-blue waters of the Bahamas.
Not only have these kids discovered a drug-runner's plane, they've also found the Zephyr, a legendary pirate ship. So if they sell some of the coke from the drug plane, they can pay for the equipment to retrieve the treasure. Good plan! Or not.
Meanwhile, Josh Brolin is lurking around as a ruthless treasure-hunter who leers at Sam and mocks Jared. He's such an obvious villain, he's practically twirling his mustache to give us hints as to what's to come.
Rated PG-13, "Into the Blue" is a good-loooking movie about good-looking, stupid people who deserve everything that happens to them.
