Unlocked Cars Targeted In Plainfield Burglaries

PLAINFIELD, Ill. (STNG) ― Police in southwest suburban Plainfield are investigating several vehicle burglaries in which cell phones, computers, cash and other valuables have been stolen.

The burglaries have been occurring in the late evening and early morning hours and police say unlocked vehicles are being targeted. GPS units, cell phones, laptop computers, and cash are among the valuable items that have been stolen, according to a release from the Plainfield Police Department.

In response to the burglaries, police have stepped up extra patrols and are asking residents to lock up their vehicles and remove valuable items, the release said.

A $5,000 reward is being offered and anyone with information is asked to call Will County Crime Stoppers at (800) 323-6734.
