Woman Found Dead At South Side Motel

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A 55-year-old woman who was found dead by police in a South Side motel Saturday afternoon was fatally stabbed in the neck, according to a Sunday autopsy.

The woman was found dead at 7621 S. Cottage Grove Ave. about 2:28 p.m., according to Calumet Area detectives.

Barbara Ann's Motel Two is located at the address, according to a Yellow Pages directory.

The woman has been identified as Paulette Thomas, according to a spokesman from the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, who said Thomas' home address was not yet known on Sunday afternoon.

An autopsy Sunday found Thomas died from a stab wound to the neck, and her death has been ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
