Woman Dead, 5 Others Injured In Bishop Ford Crash
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
A woman was killed and five others--including four children--suffered minor injuries Friday night when the car she was driving rolled over on the Bishop Ford Freeway and landed near an adjacent road.
About 10:20 p.m., a 1991 Chevrolet car driven by a 27-year-old woman lost control while traveling southbound near 126th on the Bishop Ford Freeway (I-94) and rolled over. The woman was ejected during the crash and the vehicle landed on its roof near the frontage road (Doty Avenue) and on top of the woman, according to Illinois State Police District Chicago Sgt. Michelle Tufenkjian.
Sabrina Taylor, of 31 W. 108th Pl., was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 2:30 a.m., a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokesman said.
Taylor was dead on the scene and four children, all under the age of 10, and one adult male passenger were hospitalized. Two of the children and the man, who is possibly the victim's fiancé, were taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County and the other two children were taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. All five suffered minor injuries, Tufenkjian said.
At least two of the children were Taylor's kids and she was the only occupant not wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
About 10:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to a crash at 120th Street and Doty Avenue, according to fire department spokesman Richard Rosado, who said only four people were hospitalized.
An EMS Plan 1 response was called for the crash.
An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Saturday.
