No Charges For Woman Who Allegedly Stabs Man

David Gomez Of Back Of The Yards Was Pronounced Dead Saturday Morning

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― Charges will not be filed against the woman who allegedly fatally stabbed her boyfriend during a domestic dispute in the Southwest Side's Back-of-the-Yard's neighborhood early Saturday, police said.

David Gomez, 25, was stabbed in his home and was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 1:17 a.m., said the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. A Saturday autopsy determined Gomez died of a stab wound to the chest and the death was ruled a homicide.

Police said the man was stabbed in the left side of his chest about 12:25 a.m. at 5250 S. Wolcott Ave. during a domestic-related incident. Sources said the man was stabbed by his girlfriend.

A woman was in custody at Wentworth Area headquarters but was released after the Cook County State's Attorney's office declined to press charges, police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor.
