CHICAGO (STNG) ―
A man is dead and a woman is hospitalized early Monday after both were shot in a vehicle in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood.
The man and woman were both shot by a man on foot while they were seated in a vehicle in the 1500 block of South Kedzie Avenue about 1:02 a.m. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police News Affairs Officer David Banks said, citing preliminary information.
Rodolfo Salazar, 18, of 2753 S. Homan Ave., was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 2:02 a.m., a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said. Salazar suffered a gunshot wound to the chest at 1547 S. Kedzie Ave., the spokesman said.
Police said the man was dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The woman, 21, is in "stable" condition with a gunshot wound to the hip, Banks said.
