About 7:20 p.m. Friday, 35-year-old Juan Torres was found unresponsive on the street in the 1300 block of North Campbell Avenue with gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen, police said. Torres was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital of Cook County at 7:50 p.m. Friday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The shooting is believed to have been a drive-by, police said.

About 3:30 a.m. Saturday, a Hazel Crest man was shot as he stood on the street at 8401 S. Colfax Ave. Darryl Sawyer, of 17820 Ridgewood Dr. in Hazel Crest, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 9:26 p.m. Saturday, the medical examiner's office said.

About five minutes later, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot while driving at 80th Street and Exchange Avenue. Mario Butler, of 8131 S. Coles Ave., was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 4:24 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.

Butler was driving south on Exchange when he was shot by one or more gunmen on foot, police said.

About 10:10 p.m. Saturday, two men in a car were shot in the 4500 block of West Jackson Boulevard, police said. Fredrene Brown, 23, of 1004 N. Springfield Ave., was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 11:23 p.m. Saturday, the medical examiner's office said.

Brown, the motorist, drove away after being shot and subsequently lost control of the car, crashing on the 4500 block of West Chicago Avenue, police said. A passenger was reportedly in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The violence was not confined to the city of Chicago, though.
Friday night, one Waukegan teenager was killed and another injured in a shooting in the far north suburb.

Adan Rubio, 17, was pronounced dead at Vista Medical Center East at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, said Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller.

Rubio was shot in the head while sitting in a car in the area of Belvidere and Victory streets, said Police Chief Bill Biang. Another 17-year-old male in the vehicle was shot in the foot.

Police believe Rubio was the driver and that the shooting took place after the two victims and Lee had been arguing, Biang said. Following the shooting, the car was driven three blocks.

Jerry Lee, 19, of Waukegan, was tracked down by police on the 100 block of South Park Avenue, police said, taken into custody and gave a statement regarding his involvement in the incident. Officers also recovered a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting.

Police consider the incident gang-related, Biang said.

A 33-year-old man was murdered early Sunday in south suburban Dolton.
Jonathan Miller, of 14920 S. State St. in Dolton, was fatally shot at 225 Riverside Dr. and pronounced dead at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey at 3:25 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.

A Sunday autopsy determined Miller died of multiple gunshot wounds and the death was ruled a homicide.

Dolton police are investigating but have declined to comment.

A 20-year-old man was shot to death Sunday night in south suburban Sauk Village.

Jeremy Robinson, 20, of 2517 221st St. in Chicago Heights, was shot and killed at 1606 217th St. in Sauk Village, the medical examiner's office said. He was pronounced dead at St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Olympia Fields at 11:08 p.m.
